Introduction:

The Patient right is the most basic rights that should be taken into consideration by the medical staff.  In this respect, the role of doctors and nurses is more significant compared to that of other members of the health team. The present study was conducted with the aim of assessing patients' satisfaction with nurses’ and doctors’ compliance with Patient Right Charter.

Methods:

The present study was a descriptive, cross-sectional study carried out by using a questionnaire derived from Patient Right Charter approved by the Ministry of Health. The target community was all patients admitted to different wards of shohadaye khalije fars hospital among whom 150 people were selected as samples. This study was done in May & June of 2014. By using independent and paired t-test, Pearson correlation and analysis of variance, data analysis was performed by SPSS19 software.

Results:

Patients’ average satisfaction with the nurses in this study was 49.93 ± 19.95 and with physicians was 48.89 ± 21.37, which was not statistically significant (p=0. 47). A significant statistic difference was found between admittance duration and the level of satisfaction was observed. The highest level of satisfaction was contributed to the surgery ward obstetrics and the lowest level of satisfaction was ascribed to obstetrics and gynecology department.

Conclusion:

Given the importance of complying with Patient Right Charter by nurses and doctors, they seem to be obliged more to the rights of patients and be familiar with Patient Right Charter more so as to gain the patients’ satisfaction to a greater degree, and thus provide the patients with higher quality services
