Introduction: Postpartum hemorrhage is one of the most common and life-threatening obstetric complications and remains a leading cause of maternal mortality worldwide. Midwives play a vital role in prevention, timely diagnosis, and rapid intervention in PPH, while any deficiencies in theoretical knowledge and clinical skills may lead to serious and irreversible consequences. The use of digital technologies and educational applications provides valuable opportunities for interactive learning, simulation of real clinical scenarios, and continuous access to educational resources, which can enhance clinical performance, self-efficacy, and learner satisfaction. Accordingly, this study aims to design, implement, and evaluate an educational application for PPH management among midwifery students.
Methods and Materials: This study is a developmental - applied research based on the ADDIE educational model and conducted in five phases. 1. Analysis phase: the researcher identified the educational needs and learning preferences of undergraduate midwifery students. 2. Design phase: learning objectives, activities, and the content framework of the postpartum hemorrhage management learning application determined to provide structured and stepwise instruction. 3. Preparation phase: multimedia content and the application developed using HTML and CSS. 4. Implementation phase: the application provided to students, and the researcher offered technical support and guidance for optimal use. 5. Evaluation phase: the effectiveness of the application on knowledge, clinical self-efficacy, and student satisfaction assessed using a two-group quasi-experimental pretest–posttest design. Data analyzed using SPSS version 22 and appropriate statistical tests, including paired t-tests and independent t-tests.
Discussion: It is anticipated that the designed application will improve theoretical knowledge, clinical skills, self-efficacy, and educational satisfaction of midwifery students in managing PPH. Moreover, this educational intervention may contribute to deeper learning processes, enhance clinical decision-making, and improve preparedness of students to help them in real clinical situations.
