Abstract: Introduction: Invalid narrations’ access to narrative conventions has prompted hadith scholars to criticize and pathologize narrations relying on some criteria. The prevalence of problematic narrations in medical narrations has made this pathology more important. Recognition of these criteria seems to be indispensable for all those who seek to study in common fields of medicine and religion such as medical ethics, medical jurisprudence, Quranic studies, and medicine, and also for those committed to observe ethical principles and criteria. Materials and Methods: This study used documentary and analytical method by referring to texts which contained relevant arguments. Some texts have been accessed using hardcopies and others using Islamic sciences softwares. 16 sources were reviewed through the study. Results: Incompatibility of a narration’s content with determinate findings of sciences, and also its inconsistency with observations make it non-attributable. Therefore, the narration which considers the men’s chest ribs one less than women’s is non-attributable. Conclusion: Two criteria of narration critique including 1) non-opposition to sense 2) non-conflict with the findings of determinate sciences, which incidentally have been considered less amongst scholars, is more applicable and important in common fields of religion and medicine. This article introduces the two mentioned criteria to the researchers of medical sciences and reminds their significance and central role.
