Introduction:
One of the policies of the Ministry of Health is encouraging departments to conduct internal evaluations. Department of Microbiology is among the first groups formed in Jahrom Medical School that, in line with developments in medical sciences, has gone out of an absolutly theoretical mood and its scope has been drawn to the bedside. Internal assessment is done by the teachers of this group to determine the utility of educational and research processes.
Materials and Methods:
This study was a cross-sectional study in 2011 carried out in the Department of Microbiology, Jahrom University of Medical Sciences. The studied population consisted of all members of the group including head of department, faculty, staff and students. Internal assessment was performed based on eight factors including management, mission and goals, faculty and staff, curriculum, students, educational resources, research, testing and evaluation. Three questionnaires to collect information director, faculty and students on the basis of internal assessment software to extract and then assessing the chart according to the Ministry of Health and Medical Education has been used for microbiology localization.
Results:
According to the results, management (mean acquired 3.58) and educational training (4.39) were in the ideal situation and the other factors were in a roughly appropriate position and generally the research Department was in a relatively favorable situation.
Conclusion:
Due to the relatively favorable assessment study groups, it is necessary to continue assessment along with removing the existing flaws and increasing the strengths
