Abstract
Background and purpose: Moral intelligence is one of the dimensions of intelligence that can provide a framework for the proper function of man, and be used as a predictor for people’s conduct. nursing and midwifery students’ performance is of great importance because of the moral and human nature of their profession. Therefore, the present study aimed to assess moral intelligence in nursing and midwifery students of Qom University of Medical Sciences.
Material & Methods: This cross-sectional study was conducted on 210 nursing and midwifery students of Qom University of Medical Sciences. Participants were selected through census method. Data were collected by demographic and Lennik & Kiel’s moral intelligence questionnaire, and data analysis was performed using SPSS 18 software and descriptive and analytical statistics tests at the significance level of p <0.5.
Results: The results showed that the mean scores of students' moral intelligence (73/2 ± 8/2) that according to maximum (100), is the average upward. Student’ jobs, income, parents' occupation, marital status and education of parents had no relationship with moral intelligence (p>0/05). But age, gender, marital status and period average grade student had a statistically significant relationship with moral intelligence (p < span dir="RTL">> 0/05).
Conclusion: The relatively high level of moral intelligence of nursing and midwifery students of Qom University of Medical Sciences can help in providing the healthy their patients.
