[English]

Introduction:
Journal Club is an educational session that is held with the presence of professors and students, during which the content and methodology of several articles from reputable journals are reviewed. Journal Club is one of the accepted methods to improve the knowledge of doctors by reviewing and discussing medical texts. The present study was conducted with the aim of investigating the quality of journal club meetings from the point of view of clinical students of Jahrom University of Medical Sciences.
Materials and Methods:
This cross-sectional study was conducted on 91 clinical medical students (residents, intern, extern, student) in educational and therapeutic hospitals in Jahrom city. The data collection tool in this study included two demographic information questionnaires and the quality of holding the journal club questionnaire. Data analysis was done using spss software version 21 and using descriptive statistical tests (frequency and percentage) and inferential statistical tests (chi-square, t-test) at a significance level of P<0.05.
Results:
The average score of students of Jahrom University of Medical Sciences regarding the quality of journal club meetings was 2.51 ± 2.39, which was lower than the average level. From the point of view of the students of Jahrom University of Medical Sciences regarding the quality of the journal club meetings, the highest score was related to the items "improvement of technique in lectures" and "improvement of understanding of topics read in textbooks". Also, the lowest score was related to the items "improving skills for answering questions and summarizing the discussion about the lecture" and "improving understanding of the principles of vital statistics and epidemiology".
Conclusion:
The results of the present study showed that the opinion of the students of Jahrom University of Medical Sciences regarding the quality of the journal club meetings was lower than the average level, and among the sections of the journal club, the skills of understanding and criticizing scientific articles had the lowest average. Therefore, according to the reported results and the importance of holding the Journal Club in improving the skills of understanding and criticizing articles, it is felt that there is a need for detailed investigations regarding the low quality of this subject in the present study.
