Introduction:
Postural hypotension is one of the common problems in the elderly, which is associated with complications such as increased risk of falls, fractures, and death, so it requires serious preventive measures. One of the effective methods to prevent the occurrence of postural hypotension is to educate the patient. In many cases, teaching the patient does not lead to the desired results due to the patient's non-adherence to the points taught. Therefore, it is necessary and necessary to identify methods to make patient education more effective. In this case report, a health education approach was introduced based on the religious-cultural values of the patients to prevent postural hypotension.
Research community:
The case was a 72-year-old woman who was admitted to the cardiac intensive care unit with a complaint of high blood pressure. In the initial evaluation, it was recognized that religious values and beliefs are very important to her. To prevent postural hypotension, the nurse designed a patient education approach based on the religious-cultural values of the patient. In this case report, data was collected by observing the participant, examining her reactions, and objective clinical outcomes.
Conclusion:
One of the solutions that may improve patients' adherence to treatment and increase their satisfaction with healthcare providers is aligning nursing interventions with patients' religious values. Researchers are advised to conduct further investigations in this field.
