English

Introduction:
Cardiopulmonary resuscitation is one of the life-giving operations that increases the chance of survival after cardiac arrest. Among the people who should have enough training about CPR, medical students have a special position because in the future, as doctors, they should be able to manage a cardiopulmonary resuscitation team. Therefore, the purpose of this study is to investigate the level of awareness of Jahrom medical students in relation to cardiopulmonary resuscitation based on the latest changes in the resuscitation protocol.
Methods & Materials:
This cross-sectional descriptive study was conducted in 2023 on all internal and extern students of Jahrom University of Medical Sciences. The data collection tool in this study includes two sections of demographic information and students' awareness about basic and advanced cardiopulmonary resuscitation regarding the changes in the resuscitation protocol; while this research was done based on the 2020 US protocol.
Results:
The average score of students' awareness about changes in the resuscitation protocol was 59.61 ± 22.32. The level of awareness of the majority of students was at the average level of 30 people (47.6%). There was no statistically significant relationship between the level of students' knowledge about resuscitation protocol changes with gender and history of participation in resuscitation training workshops and courses (P<0.05). Also, there was a statistically significant relationship between the students' awareness score regarding the changes in the resuscitation protocol and age (P<0.001, r=0.45). The score of students' awareness about changes in the resuscitation protocol was higher in older students.
Conclusion:
Based on the results of the present study, the knowledge level of the majority of students was at an average level. Therefore, by knowing the current situation and aspects of the recovery process in which external and internal students are weak based on the latest changes of the recovery protocol, it is possible to help the officials and educational managers in recognizing the problems and planning to improve their awareness in this regard. Because it finally leads to improving the students' awareness and carry out rehabilitation based on scientific standards to improve the health of the society.
