Analytical Study of the Development of Information Literacy of Cyberspace Users Regarding Egg Donation Based on Forum Comments

Abstract
Introduction:
Online health forums play a significant role in expressing the opinions, experiences, and perspectives of stakeholders. Infertility treatment methods, despite being over three decades old, are still associated with ambiguities, making it difficult to obtain accurate scientific information openly in this field. This study aims to clarify the opinions of users of the discussion forum on assisted reproductive treatments in the area of egg donation.
Methods & Materials:
The research utilized contractual content analysis. The study included all users of the fertility treatment discussion forum on the website "Ni Ni Site" who shared their opinions from May 2018 to May 2014. No specific entry criteria were set, but topics such as advertisements or appointment tools were excluded. Data saturation was reached when no new codes were found. Two main questions guided the extraction of semantic units: 1- What is the purpose of conversations and what drives the discussion? 2- What approach do participants take in the discussion? Data analysis was conducted using Granheim and Lundman's five-step method and MAXQDA-10 software, with validation using Lincoln and Goba criteria.
Results:
160 forum topics were categorized into 9 categories, resulting in 1354 primary codes, 23 subcategories, 9 subthemes, and 4 main categories. The main themes included expression of feelings and emotions, attraction of donors and applicants, expression of experiences, and presentation of knowledge in response to questions.
Conclusion:
The study findings suggest that while discussion forums provide a platform for users to exchange opinions, most users focus on finding donors or applicants and alleviating concerns. Users' approach in commenting and answering questions may not be reliable, even when sharing personal experiences. Health system authorities should take steps to ensure the provision of accurate scientific information in this field.
