Abstract
Introduction:
Leaving the profession, as one of the biggest problems facing the nursing profession, is raised. Considering the importance of the nursing profession in the service of patients and health promotion, the above study was conducted with the aim of determining the factors that influence the choice of the course and tendency to drop-out in nursing students.
Methods and Materials:
This study is a descriptive-analytical study. The courses were studied by nursing students from Razi School of Nursing and Midwifery who were selected by census method. Data collection tool in the questionnaire was a structured and self-made one with a score of 0.8 content-face validity and with a score of 0.87 reliability by Alpha Krunbakhs used in three parts as follows: demographic data, questionnaire of selected fields, questionnaire of tendency to drop-out. After collecting the data using statistical software SPSS version 19, the data were analyzed by using a central index, dispersion, Kruskal-Wallis and Chi-square test.
Results:
The main reason for choosing this filed is simply to get a degree in nursing with an average of 1.18±0.87and the main reason for tendency to leave the field is related to the lack of social status with an average of 1.36 ± 3.04.
