Introduction:
From the Islamic point of view, morality is a matter derived from reason, revelation and intuition. Western medical ethics is rooted in the Hippocratic Oath, which is the main foundation of medical ethics. One of the main branches of medicine is physiotherapy. This field is as old as medical knowledge. Physicians have long used hydrotherapy and massage to treat the disease.
Method and Materials:
The purpose of this article is to study medical ethics from the perspective of Razi and Ibn Sina according to their writings and compare it with the codes of ethics of physiotherapy in the United States.
This article studies the main topics in Islamic medical ethics and ethics in modern physiotherapy by reviewing the books of Muslim physicians during the flourishing of Islamic civilization and the numerous statutes and books that have been compiled in recent years in the field of modern physiotherapy ethics.
Results:
In physiotherapy ethics codes, patient dignity is central. Ibn Sina has referred to the three axes of medical practice, medical research, and the attitude and belief in Islam and moral principles. The most important criteria of medical ethics from Razi's point of view are observance of ethical standards in the medical profession and observance of ethical standards in research affairs. The ethics codes of the American Physiotherapy Association include patient treatment, counseling, education, and research and management.
Conclusion:
Considering that close attention has been paid to ethics in Islamic texts, it is possible to present more efficient medical ethics texts by taking the commonalities of the two (patient-centered) attitudes. An examination of the ethical codes of the American Physiotherapy Association shows that the items mentioned in it existed in the books of Iranian thinkers during the flourishing of Islamic civilization.
